OS – la montagne blanche

General public
90 minutes

In light of the situation and new sanitary measures in place in Montreal, where the artists are in residence, we have to postpone the performance dates for this show, which was initially due to take place from October 22nd to 24th, 2020.”

Our wish, and that of the artists, is to present OS – la montagne blanche this fall at La Nouvelle Scène Gilles Desjardins. We want you to experience this show. Thus, we’ve decided to announce OS – la montagne blanche as part of our fall programming, with no fixed performance dates, but with the great hope to be able to share it with you. Stay tuned for more information!

Lost and distraught by his mother’s death, a young archeologist plunges into an existential dread that nothing can cure, not even his girlfriend’s love. How can he become a man who is worthy, responsible and well-rounded now? As he escapes to South America, where ruins other than his own await him, he meets Edna, who helps him redirect his digging efforts inwards. Steve Gagnon offers us a strong and poignant monologue drawing inspiration from spoken word and slam poetry, staged with the support of live musicians.

OS – la montagne blanche is a frenzied, but profoundly moving experience. The artistic team has been preparing this remount of the 2018 creation as a response to the physical distancing guidelines brought forth by the public health crisis. With this remount, they are hoping to reinvent the audience’s experience of the production.

What the critics are saying:

“Sweaty, strong, soft and sometimes even transcendent, Steve Gagnon offers a masterful performance, accompanied on stage by a live musical soundscape.”

Yves Leclerc, Journal de Québec

“Steve Gagnon, alone on stage, delivers with aplomb the kind of text we’re used to seeing from him: generous and lyrical, where images come to life in rapid succession, each image complementing the last and resulting in a masterful dramatic surge that never loses any of its drive during the entire ascent of this white mountain.”
